Major Victory For armed Forces: Supreme Court Stays FIR against major Aditya

FIR was registered against Major Aditya kumar by Jammu and Kashmir police after 3 civilians were killed in firing by army personnel in their self-defense at Shopian district. The Army had said that its soldiers opened fire in a desperate situation, trapped by 200 protestors pelted stone at the Army.

On 27, 3 civilians were killed after firing by army personnel at a stone-pelting mob of protestors in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district. Army was trapped by 200 stone-throwing protestors following which the Army Personnel shot in the air in their self-defense.

No actions can be taken for now against the army Major who accused in killing of 3 civilians, the Supreme Court declared. This means major Aditya Kumar will not be called for any interrogation and arrested by Jammu and Kashmir police in connection with Shopian Incident.

Lieutenant Colonel Karamveer Singh asked the Supreme court to cancel the FIR against Major Aditya. He also pointed that his son, Major Aditya, was not even present at the spot during firing. FIR against serving Army personnel can affect the morale of soldiers who tolerated inhospitality just to uphold the dignity of Indian Flag, he added.

However, the Supreme Court restrained Jammu and Kashmir police from taking any forceful action against Major Army but the question of the morale of the Army is very important. False Cases are registered against Army personnel can result in serious demoralization.
