A private plane flying from UAE to Turkish has crashed in Iraq that carries 11 people. The plan was flying the daughter of a prominent businessman back from her hen party. All are feared dead after the jet burst into flames on a mountainside near the city of Shahr-e Kord, in western Iran. The group had been celebrating in Dubai ahead of her wedding, scheduled for next month.
According to Iranian emergency management officials, all the passengers were young women.
The plane took off late on Sunday afternoon and climbed to a cruising altitude of just over 35,000 feet. An hour later, it rapidly gained attitude and then dropped off drastically within minutes, according to FlightRdar24.
Turkey's Red Crescent organization head wrote on Twitter, "According to the last information we obtained from the Iranian Red Crescent, the wreck of the jet and the bodies have been found. They will be carried down from the mountain when the sun comes up. My condolences to those who lost their loved ones”.
The plane was identified as a Bombardier CL604, tail number TC-TRB reportedly belonged to a firm owned by Turkish business tycoon Huseyin Basaran - the bride-to-be's father.
Mr. Basaran is a former deputy chairman of Trabzonspor football club, whose 28-year old daughter died in plane crash, has last posted a video of her enjoying a concert by the British pop star Rita Ora at a popular nightclub. There was no further activity on her account.
This is the second crash in a month, earlier, an Iranian ATR-72, a twin-engine turboprop used as short regional flight crashed in southern Iran, killing all the members of` the plane.
