Haryana police demands verification fees for Gau Rakshak ID cards

Haryana police has asked the Haryana Cow Service Commission, the agency looking after the issuance of genuine ID cards for ‘Gau Rakshak’ to pay the verification fees for the person who are short listed for the ID cards. The Haryana Cow Service Commission was constituted in 2012 and got notified in year 2013. The commission has prepared a list of 200 people who are selected across the state as Genuine Gau Raksahk and the list was sent for verification. With the need of verification for each and every candidate who is selected for the Genuine Gau Rakshak, the whole process was very time consuming. Short listing candidates was a uphill task and the commission took the help of local leaders for the verification of background of the candidates. A senior officer said that the character verification fees is as per government norms and has to be paid. Locals clashing on the issue of smuggling of cattle for slaughter have increased since the state enforced the Cow Protection Act. This is also known as ‘ Gauvansh Sanrakshan’ and ‘Gausamvardhan’ Act, 2015. President of Gau Raksha Dal, Dharmendra Yadav said,“Although there is no official statement on the suggested verification fees for ID cards, but some of the candidates are working in direct coordination with the local police. The ID cards will make our job easy a lot and if there will be any kind of verification fees payable to the Cow Service Commission, the individual candidates can pay the same.”
