Amazon has been doing hard labour to ensure that Alexa reaches everyone across the country. It has already three Echo speakers doing the job. Additionally, the company is also working with OEMs to reach a wider scale in India. Although the smart speaker demand in India is still in its infant stage, the companies are slowly trying to make a change. BPL, one of the OEMs, revealed that it is working with Amazon for the Alexa-based devices.
BPL has become one of the first companies to make use of the Alexa voice services kit. Chief Operating Officer of BPL, Manmohan Ganesh, said: "Yes it’s true that BPL is with working closely with Amazon to shepherd in new voice-based speaker technologies to India. This is a part of the BPL's overall partnership with Amazon and it goes beyond just selling consumer durables."
The basic Alexa speaker will be priced at around Rs 4,000, but the more advanced speaker will be worth Rs 9,000. At these affordable prices, the company will be competing with Amazon Echo Dot (Rs. 4,499) and Echo (Rs. 9,999) in India.
However, the features of the speaker have not yet been disclosed by the company, but it promised to be first of its kind.
