French President Emmanuel with wife and some leaders visit iconic Taj Mahal

French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte has taken out few hours from his four-day visit to India to explore the mesmerizing beauty of 17th century Mughal, -era monument Taj Mahal. The Macrons got a private tour of the Taj Mahal and received by UP deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma and Agra mayor Naveen Jain. After a traditional welcoming ceremony at Shilpgram, the macrons were escorted to the Taj. They spent around one hour at the monument.
A few days back, Canada's Justin Trudeau and Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu also toured the Mughal-era monument during their tour to India.
 

The sale of tickets for common visitors was closed and the monument was shut for the public at 4 pm. While the guide assigned to the French dignitaries was not much of help as he couldn’t speak French. The Macron was given the iconic Diana bench at the monument and he didn’t miss the chance to get clicked there. He also wrote in French in the visitor’s book at Taj Mahal, “Thank you for your welcome in this magical place. The Taj Mahal belongs to India and its history; it’s a love story of the seventeen century. The Mughals and Islam have a share in it, but it also bears witness to universally that makes India and continues to do so.  Thank you for this lesson of beauty, love, and universality”.
After his visit to Agra, President Macron will head to Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on March 12. He, along with PM Modi, will inaugurate a solar plant in Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur district.
