COVID-19 Updates: India Reports 27,254 New Cases, 219 Deaths

India recorded 27,254 new cases of the Coronavirus infection and 219 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases in the country to 3.32 crore. The active cases tally stands at over 3.74 lakh and the total death toll is over 4.42 lakh.

Kerala reported 20,240 new cases, and 67 fresh deaths. The total number of infections in the state is 43,75,431. The Test Positivity Rate (TPR) of the state was recorded at 17.51 percent. On the other hand, Maharashtra recorded 3,623 new Covid-19 cases and 46 deaths on Sunday. The state currently has 50,400 active cases.

Chhattisgarh recorded 20 new cases and zero deaths on Sunday. This takes the total tally of infections for the state to 10,04,864 and the fatality toll stands at 13,558. Tamil Nadu vaccinated a total of 28.36 lakh people as a part of its mega vaccination drive on Sunday.

Andhra Pradesh reported 1,190 fresh infections of the virus and 11 deaths on Sunday. The state currently has 15,110 active cases and crossed the 2 million mark in the number of recoveries from the novel coronavirus infection as 1,226 infected people recovered on Sunday. Karnataka reported 803 new Covid-19 cases and 17 deaths on Sunday. The total number of active cases in the state stood at 16,656.

Delhi recorded zero deaths and 22 new cases of Covid-19 on Sunday. The Positivity Rate in the National Capital stands at 0.4 percent and the number of active cases came down to 390. So far, Delhi has reported only one fatality due to the virus in the month of September.

Jammu and Kashmir is set to launch a special drive to vaccinate the students of ages 18 years or above, to allow a speedy reopening of the educational institutions, with most of the teaching staff vaccinated,  Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Saturday.
