India reported 43,263 new cases of the novel Coronavirus infection and 338 deaths in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of cases in the country rose to 3.31 crore (3,31,39,981) and the total deaths crossed over the 4.41 lakh (4,41,749) mark. Over 40,567 patients have recovered from the disease, taking the number of active cases in the country to 3.91 lakh (3,93,614).
India’s vaccination coverage crossed the 71 crore mark (71,52,54,153). More than 73 lakh doses were administered across the country yesterday.
The World Health Organisation Director, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, urged the rich countries, with a larger supply of Covid-19 vaccines, to hold out on the booster shots through the end of the year to help make the doses available for poorer countries.
Over 8 lakh people were booked in Delhi for Covid norm violations in the last four months. A total of Rs. 135 crore was collected in fines. The fines were imposed by the Delhi government teams and police personnel on the citizens, for violating various Covid-related guidelines such as not wearing masks, crowding, and spitting in public places.
