This weekend, a train derailed in Northwest Turkey wherein 24 people died. On Monday, Deputy PM Recep Akdag said a sharp jump from the previous toll of 10.
The train was heading towards Istanbul when the incident happen on early Sunday evening in Tekirdag region, the search operations have been completed by this morning at the accident of the train. Turkish Army had also sent helicopters to the area and around 100 ambulances have been sent to serve the passengers.
Tekirdag governor Mehmet Ceylan told that because of adverse weather condition the accident happened. Large number of people have been injured and died. As per the reports due to rains the surrounding area was muddy. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed his condolences over the people who have lost their lives.
The train which had the accident was one of the slower passenger trains travelling on a single track railway.
Around 360 passengers were on board in six of the carriages which were derailed.
Authorities have blamed bad weather and landslid for the accident but the exact reason of the derailed is unclear.
