Rahul Gandhi appears in court today

Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday morning arrived in Mumbai for his two days tour. A defamation case was filed against Congress President by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker Rajesh Kunte so Rahul will have to present on a court in Thane district’s Bhiwandi on Tuesday  


The court had earlier summoned Gandhi to present on the court before June 12 to record his plea in the 2014 defamation case. He will appear in court at around 11 am on Tuesday. 

Rahul Gandhi had accused that RSS was behind the killing of Mahatma Gandhi during an election rally. RSS worker Rajesh Kunte filed a defamation case against the Rahul after watching his speech. “The RSS people had killed (Mahatma) Gandhi,” Rahul had allegedly said in the rally.

Rahul is expected to interact with his party workers as well as Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation party workers during his two days tour.  Before leaving to Mumbai, He will meet the family of Dadaji Khobragade, the rural inventor who revolutionised rice farming, at Chandrapur in Vidarbha. Dadaji Khobragade passed away earlier this month after fighting from a prolonged illness.


According to the media source, Rahul meeting with NCP supremo Sharad Pawar is not mentioned in his tour the leader said. “Top leaders (of both the parties) can meet any time. But no such meeting is on the agenda today,” he said. “Rahulji will appear before the court in the morning, address party workers in the afternoon and interact with Congress corporators on Mumbai’s civic issues,” the leader added.
