On Wednesday July 11, the Supreme Court said that protecting the Taj Mahal has become a hopeless cause and from Jult 31 onwards, there will be daily hearings on how to protect monuments from pollution.
Supreme Court has expressed its dissactifaction at the Ministry of Environment and Forest’s response on the protection of monuments and said that “Either you shut it, demolish it or restore it.”
The court has ordered to formulate a special committee in order to find the sources to prevent the monumnents from the pollution in and aound the Taj Mahal.
The Uttar Pradesh government has been pulled in failing to protect the monument and even the parliamentary standing committee’s report had been ignored.
In May 2018, the WHO (World Health Organisation) has released an air pollution database wherein it shows that Agra ranked eighth in the list of cities with dirties air.
