Whatsapp has stopped functioning in many phones

Whatsapp is one of the most popular and most relied upon messaging app in the entire world as it is so user friendly.
Unfortunately, now many people may have to do without Whatsapp. Whatsapp is no longer compatible with many smartphones.
The issue is caused by a recent version 2.18.90 update in phones, which removes support for some older devices. Whatsapp plans to stop supporting for all iPhones running iOS 7 by February 1, 2020.
This means that any person using iPhone 4 or older version will have to buy a new phone that supports whatsapp so, that they use it and anyone who owns the new version will have to update their phones in order to use whatsapp.
For now, whatsapp has jumped the gun and whatsapp available for iphone users’ iphone 8 users.
Whatsapp will not supported on iPhone 4, Whatsapp on an iPhone running iOS 7, you will still be able to use the older version of the app until February 2020, when it will stop working for you altogether. WhatsApp  stopped supporting Nokia Symbian S60 phones, earlier this year. It will do the same for Nokia S40 handsets on December 31 2018 and then devices running Android 2.3.7 and older after 1 February, 2020.
