Though it took some time, but whatsapp will now be officially available at jio phones. The app was apparently planned to be launched on KaiOS-based Jio Phone on August 15, is now rolling out through the JioStore.
It was confirmed by the Facebook owned chat app on Monday, through a blog post confirming that all the Jio phone users will be able to use whatsapp by September 20.
Jio users can download WhatsApp version designed for jio phones on their Jio Phone and Jio Phone 2 handsets by visiting the JioStore. Reliance announced the arrival of special version of YouTube for Jio users soon.
"WhatsApp is available in the JioPhone AppStore starting September 10 and will be rolled out on all JioPhones by September 20. People can download WhatsApp on both the JioPhone and the JioPhone 2 by visiting the AppStore and clicking on Download button," the company is quoted to have said.
The whatsapp icon will start showing up in your Jio phones whether it is last year model, or Jio Phone 2 released this year. All you have to do is to go in your Jio app Store and download the app, from there just like you download app from Google play at Android. Hopefully, the app should be start showing in your Jio app store after September 20, if it doesn’t, wait for couple of days.
"Millions of people across India can now use WhatsApp private messaging on the best-in-class JioPhone across India," said Chris Daniels, vice president, WhatsApp. "With his new app for KaiOS, we hope to develop the technology, so that people can easily get in touch with each other.”
The Director, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, Mr. Akash Ambani took the oppournity to thanks Facebook and Whatsapp for making it happen for the Jip users.
For those who have not used Jio phones, with the entire buttons and small screen it may look like a feature phone, but surprisingly it has all the features of a smart phone. You can use 4G and VOL TE. Jio phones comes with the feature like web Browser and a Video player.
