Blind Welfare Council

Blind Welfare Council

President, Prafulbhai N.Vyas

Blind welfare council is the organisation who is operational on the most backward part of District of Gujarat – Dahood Panchmahal. The people in this area belong to tribal casts (adivasis) and are poor and illiterate. They work for all disabled categories which consist of Visual Impairement (V.I). Hearing Impairment (H.I) Mental Retardation (M.R) Loco-motor disability (Orthopedically Handicapped) and all other associated disabilities. Due to lack of nutritious food, awareness and illiteracy of these tribal people the disability rate is quiet high. In August 2000, the trust BLIND WELFARE COUNCIL was established wherein there are 11 trustees and out of which 8 are Visual Impaired. All the Visually impaired trustees are holding good status in society and are on Government jobs. They all came up with an aim that these people should not face the difficulties and should possess good status. They have faced many problems in attaining such positions in life. In this area there were no agencies working in the field of disability. Prafulbhai N.Vyas is the President of the council and Bhaskarbhai Y.Mehta is the Vice President. In 2016-17 there are approximate 46 donors who are associated with the council. Their mission is to strive and respond to the rights of disabled people through service delivery and advocacy efforts and to ensure that the all disabled people of Dahod and Panchmahals districts have access to equal opportunities leading to improved quality of life and full participation in the society that respects their rights and dignity
